With its many variations, the Golf VI makes everyone happy. Ranging from exciting to harmonious, from comfortable to thrilling, for sporty drivers or young families: the configurations are hugely versatile. Existing vehicles are very close to our hearts, which is why on this Golf 6 page you'll find some exciting tricks, learn more about the highlights and receive some handy tips.
Sporty or classic: With the Golf VI, you don't have to choose just one. Its design brings both styles together; from the clear and powerful shape of the wheels, the elegant lines of the vehicle rear, to the twin tailpipe, which alludes to the sheer power hidden beneath the engine lid.
Lower consumption, less CO2 - but that doesn't mean less driving pleasure. The Golf VI brings performance and responsibility together in one model. Thanks to BlueMotion technologies such as start/stop systems or recuperation, which help your Golf recapture energy whenever you brake. Also available as 1.6 litre TDI, TSI or liquefied petroleum gas run bi-fuel.
Every journey becomes more enjoyable when you feel safe. Your Golf VI can lend a helping hand. For example with a rear view camera system, which makes sure you can see absolutely everything behind you, right down to the neighbour's dog. With the electronic stabilisation control, which keeps you on track, even in critical situations. Or with airbags at the front and on the sides, for your knees and head.
Anything can happen on the road. This is why your Volkswagen Golf VI supports you with its intelligent assistance systems: The optional adaptive chassis control DCC reacts automatically to the situation and to the road. And to you: With just the click of a button, you can decide how comfortable or sporty you want your car to be.
With your destination in sight and your favourite song in your ear, driving suddenly becomes a lot more relaxed. Depending on the fittings, it can be equipped with a voice command system, traffic sign recognition, touchscreen, hands-free system and DVD drive.
No trip is too short to show off your best side. With the R-Line specification packages for Trendline, Comfortline and Highline, you'll cover every distance in a more sporty and exclusive manner than ever before. This might be with a black radiator grille, with distinctive roof spoilers, or the 17 inch "Mallory" light alloy wheel rims.
Help your Golf VI make the grade with the opulent details, fine materials and select designs of the Volkswagen Exclusive fittings. How about the "Salamanca" light alloy wheels, or maybe the sporty "Bilbao" model? The result: Exactly your style.

Have a listen to your Golf IV. Is it louder than normal? And what about the fuel gauge. Is it consuming more? Or has the performance reduced? If the answer is yes, you should get your exhaust system checked, and renewed if necessary, immediately at your Volkswagen Partner. We only use Genuine Parts and know exactly how every single screw should be placed.
Who in their right mind would let a couple of potholes throw them off balance? Your Golf VI certainly won't, not with the right shock absorbers. And because their wear-and-tear is barely noticeable: The best thing to do is to let us take a look every 60,000km. If needs be, we will exchange them for Volkswagen Genuine Shock Absorbers. These are fitted perfectly to match your Golf VI and join together with your assistance systems to form a real dream team.
It's a fact: With clean, pleasantly cool air coming from your air conditioning system, it's much easier to concentrate on the road. We want it to stay this way and so, as part of our Air Conditioning Service, we'll conduct a refill using Genuine Coolant, as well as checking all hoses and seals. Of course, we'll also change your interior filter too. After all, your air can never be fresh and clean enough.
The good thing about stone chips: They can be quickly repaired and are almost always covered by your insurance. But only if they have happened recently. So, to be on the safe side, come to the Glass Repairs Service straight away - and because it's urgent, there's no need to make an appointment. We'll fill the small cracks with a special resin, harden it and then sand it clean. By the time we're done, you'll be able to see the road clearly once again.
Only when the timing chain or toothed belt are running quietly and accurately is your engine running in sync: The valves open and close uniformly. The best idea is to allow us to change it for you. We tighten it, exchange the coolant pump, belt tensioner and idler roller at the same time, and align all guide tubes to a precise degree. And all of this is conducted with the suitable special equipment and our know-how as a manufacturer.
If you've come home with a trophy in the form of a dent following the battle for a parking space, we recommend the Body and Paintwork Service. Your brakes can reach a temperature of up to 1000 °C. It's only natural that they wear down. Allow us to check if they are functioning correctly every time you come for a wheel change or brake check. If necessary, we'll install new Volkswagen Genuine Brakes that are the perfect fit for your Golf VI. We'll also bleed your brake fluid. That way, you won't be grasping at nothing when it comes to the crunch.
Allow us to introduce you: This is gear oil, the lesser-known sister of engine oil. It lubricates and protects the gear wheels in the gearbox, binds dirt and cools. For some 80,000 km. At that point it's time to change it, preferably with Volkswagen Genuine Gear Oil, which is the perfect partner to your gearbox. Of course, this can be done at your Volkswagen Partner.
The more you put your foot down, the more your engine works. Engine oil can help it do so. It cools the engine at temperatures of up to 2000 °C and lubricates moving parts, such as the pistons, for approximately 30,000 km. After that, allow us to change it for you. We know every last screw and only refill with Volkswagen Engine Oil. It fits to your engine like a liquid component.
In everyday life, things can be a bit hectic. You don't have time to check that no-one's putting their feet up on the seat or whether a hole has appeared in the cover. But you don't have to. We'll brighten up your fittings and fix your seats to look better than ever. Tears, scratches and so on? We'll mend them so well that you barely notice them.
The toothed belt and timing chain perform the same function. They ensure that your engine runs in perfect sync. You can read exactly what is installed in your Golf VI in the Owner's Manual. When should you change them and why should you not miss this date at any cost? We'll tell you here.
It's a little like shoe sizes: The tyre size must be the perfect fit for your Golf VI. Only then will you be able to drive safely and protected by your insurance. How do you find the right size? Simply compare the information in your registration certificate with the numbers on the tyres.
Wider tyres look great, but what else are they good for? Does more tyre mean a better grip on the asphalt? And why are your Golf VI's standard tyres wider than those of the Golf I?

When towing a trailer using a towing bracket that was not fitted by Volkswagen, the start/stop system must always be manually switched off. If it is not, it may cause the brake system to malfunction, which in turn may cause accidents and severe injuries.
This is how the rear shelf and your windscreen heating are linked.
The filaments in the rear window can be destroyed by items rubbing against the rear shelf.
Do not use a start booster under any circumstances.
Never use a start booster. A start booster can explode and cause the engine to rev up very suddenly.
Park carefully, even with the ParkPilot.
Certain object surfaces and clothes cannot reflect the ParkPilot signals. The system does not recognise these items or people wearing these sorts of clothes, or it does so inaccurately.
Observe the following when in air recirculation mode.
Never switch off the blower for an extended period of time and never use the air recirculation mode for an extended period of time, as no fresh air will reach the vehicle interior.
Risk of fire when using rust protection.
Do not use underseal or corrosion protection on exhaust pipes, catalytic converters, heat shields or other components that heat up.
Clean the seat belts properly.
Seat belts and their components must never be cleaned with chemicals or corrosive liquids or solvents, neither should they come into contact with any sharp objects. This considerably impairs the strength of the belt fabric.
Do you use a tow-bar or tow-rope?
Vehicles with factory-installed towing brackets may only tow items using a tow-bar that is specially suited for assembly on a ball coupling. The use of an unsuitable tow-bar may damage the ball coupling and the vehicle; instead, you should use a tow-rope.
Every oil has a different structure and its own components. They decide how quickly is it dispersed in the engine. Whether it can withstand temperatures of 3000 °C or only 350 °C. Which harmful substances it absorbs. Only an oil that matches you engine exactly will protect, clean and cool it properly. And the right oil for your Golf VI? You'll find it with the Volkswagen Oil Standard.
